Installers are certified in six categories, specializing in various fields. All installers powerstretch, seal seams, match patterns and excel at using the required techniques to install the carpet for which they are certified. Select the Installer according to the type of carpet you will be purchasing:
Residential-I (at least 2 years experience)
Residential Installers who install mainly lightweight, base grade, tufted carpet in tract houses, apartments, and manufactured housing.
Residential-II (at least 4 years experience)
Residential installers who excel in the installation of carpeting in the home. Berber, patterns, thick plush carpets are the specialty of the R-II Installer.
Commercial-I (at least 2 years experience)
Commercial installers who work in small commercial facilities, using the proper techniques of installing direct-glue carpet.
Commercial-II (at least 4 years experience)
Commercial Installers who excel in the business facilities, using all methods of installing direct-glue, double-glue, attached cushion, spray system, etc.
MASTER (at least 10 years experience)
Completed all the requirements of all categories and excels both in knowledge of the trade and hands-on skills. The experience with carpets has enabled the Installer to complete the rigorous testing requirements to obtain this Certification. Just remember, the Residential-II and Commercial-II Installers are specialists in their chosen field. Perhaps, they do not handsew or have not worked with the Wilton or Axminster and therefore, cannot qualify for the Master designation.
MASTER II (at least 10 years experience)
The Master II Installers have added another step to their Certification by the updating of knowledge and skills with information that is current in today's industry. The change in manufacturing, the entry of numerous backing products, new tools, new techniques and the latest in available technical information are part of the knowledge that the Master II Installer possesses. This Certification is another step in the CFI Continuing Educational program.
