How Do I get Certified as a CFI Installer? |

Step 1: Check the Calendar. Find a Certification in your area or one that you are willing to travel to. Step 2: Apply. Download the application and proof forms. All applicants must have the minimum years of installation experience required before testing. (Entry levels – 2 years, Advanced levels – 4 years.) All forms must be submitted 2 weeks prior to testing. Step 3: Study. After forms are received, you will be sent study materials (or spanish version). These will prepare you for the written test. See the certification level requirements to prepare for the hands-on tests. Step 4: Test. Arrive Friday at 5:15 for check-in. A review will be done from 5:30 -7:30 covering the testing and CFI standards. From 7:30 - 9:30, the CFI Certification Written Test will be administered which includes OSHA, EPA, and Residential/Commercial Guidelines. Saturday: Oral and skills testing. Step 5: Receive Certification. Approximately three weeks after the Certification, you will receive a CFI Badge and Certificate, along with a packet of introductory material about your CFI Membership. Step 6: Renew. Your initial Certification is good for one year. An annual renewal fee of $100, along with and educational proof that you continued your education by attending two events is required. |

The CFI Team of Trainers receive professional recognition from the flooring industry press, both as individuals in the profession and as CFI trainers, for the outstanding service they perform in bringing technical education to the flooring trade. The CFI Team of 79 Trainers is the most knowledge installation team in the industry. The trainers attend a 2-day conference annually to update both their technical knowledge, skills and be introduced to new products and techniques. This ensures that the training information is taught in the same manner worldwide. CFI has trained over 36,000 installers in the United States, Canada, Japan, Puerto Rico, China, England, Germany and over 3,000 in South Africa. Training centers are available in several companies that follow the CFI curriculum.

CFI trainers possess above average skills in their field, are regarded as the best in the floorcovering industry in relating to other workers, and possess a keen understanding of the importance of providing accurate information for those involved in the flooring installation trade.
